  • John grew up in the fifties and tells Alison Nash what life was like when you had to find a shilling for the gas meter, there was no TV, not much radio and you had to make your own entertainment. He remembers shops where the assistant put your money in an air-powered shoot and it whizzed off to get your change! Simple days, he says, but they were happy.....
