Fascinating that Chris's grandmother joined the Women's Royal Air Force but was afraid of flying - while the photo in his profile suggests that he Chris very much the opposite. The upheavals of the war brought about many meetings that would otherwise never have happened, and a chance meeting of Chris's grandparents in Egypt gave rise to his whole family. A terrific memoir.
