  • Interviewee name: Joyce Ivy Amis

  • Joyce Pearson grew up in Eltham, South East London. When she was 8 the Second World War started and she was evacuated with her brother to Ashford, Kent. Luckily, after 9 months she was sent back to her mother just as the war was starting so she spent the duration of the war in London In part 1 of her interview she recounts her personal experience of being evacuated and living with The Blitz on her doorstep, along with her dis-jointed schooling and having to sleep in a bunker that her father built every night.
