On May 23rd 1982, having diffused a bomb dropped by the Argentinians onto HMS Argonaut, Warrant Officer John Phillips who was Sergeant Major in bomb disposal during the Falklands War, and his colleague Staff Sergeant James Prescott were called to HMS Antelope. Two 1,100 pound (500 kg) bombs had struck the ship on the starboard side, killing one crewman, Steward Mark R. Stephens. Here John Phillips talks through the numerous attempts to defuse the bombs.
