My Dad's experience of a near-miss air crash

Approximately one hour after departing Sydney on a regular passenger transport flight to Bangkok, Thailand, the Boeing 747-436 aircraft, registration G-BNLD, sustained a failure of the right inboard (number-3) engine, necessitating a return to Sydney airport where an uneventful one-engine inoperative landing was made. Simon Dore (My Dad) was on board and staring at the engine when it blew up.. it didn't feel so uneventful from where he was sitting!

This is the story of the day my mother, Julia, was picked to dance with Gene Kelly, when he came to London to publicise a film called "An Invitation to The Dance". Julia recalls this special day, and remembers her time as a student at The Arts Educational School.

It would appear that the Saviel family had been in India for many years. And that they Originated from Europe in the 18th century. The early entries look as though the descened from Manuel Saviel and Elizabeth Decruz. They were married at Calcutta Mission Church ,Calcutta Bengal, India. They are clearly of Portugeses Origin and Catholics. On the 10th of January 1853 , George Thomas Saviel aged 21, Bachelor, Writer of Calcutta, married Sophia Mary Morley aged 15, spinster. The Bridegroom's father was George Saviel and that of the bride was William Morley. The ceremony took place by banns and the witnesess were J.Lefever,J.H.B. Wilkie and E.S. Gingin.
