William de Burgh and the Burke family

Eve Burke Edwards recounts the story of her relative, William de Burgh, as told to her by her paternal grandfather. de Burgh was a French Knight sent to Ireland in the early 1300's to take up the post of governor. Eve also gives a brief account of how the de Burgh's (Burke in Irish) moved to England. Eve, a student at King Alfred School, conducted this research as part of the school's heritage day.

Sir Edward Augustus Inglefield

King Alfred School pupil Scarlett Malone recounts the story of her great great grandfather, Sir Edward Augustus Inglefield. Inglefield was a royal naval officer who famously led a search for the missing arctic explorer John Franklin in the 1850's. During the search he chartered previously unexplored parts of the northern Canadian coastline. Scarlett is a pupil at King Alfred School, London, and conducted this research as part of the school's heritage day.
