This summer's 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, fought in the skies high above the UK reminds us of the tremendous courage and skill of the pilots. The battle was the consequence of a campaign mounted by the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, against the United Kingdom with the
objective of gaining air superiority over the Royal Air Force and was the first major campaign to be fought exclusively by air forces.
Wing Commander Bob Foster flew a Hurricane fighter in this extraordinary conflict.. during a dogfight with the infamous ME109s he found himself high above the clouds and a little bit lost. Hear this firsthand account here:
