First hand witness account of the 'Man who never was'

Operation Mincemeat was a top secret WW2 deception operation designed to fool the Germans as to where an Allied invasion in the Mediterranean would take place.

Ewan MontaguePatricia Davies worked as a secretary in the department of Britain's Naval Intelligence alongside Ewan Montague and others who, working with MI5, hatched this outrageously ambitious and complex deception. Here she tells the fascinating story of those responsible for the plan which involved dropping a body with fake military ID into the sea off Spain. The 'man who never was' was washed up and found by a German agent who then acquired the false invasion plans carried by this 'British officer' who in fact did not exist.

This interview was uploaded by Martyn Cox who has made a personal mission of trying to record as many interviews as possible with members of the Special Operations Executive, and we're hoping to see more from Martyn on StoryVault in the near future.
