I'm not quite sure why, but recently the extraordinary story of the part played by Rudolf Hess in WW2 has come into my mind.  Hess flew to Scotland in 1942 in what was said to be an effort to undermine Hitler and negotiate peace with Britain. Hess was imprisoned for his trouble, and was kept under guard by the Allied powers until his death.  The story reminded me that I interviewed James Shaw, who was at one time responsible for keeping Hess secure in Spandau prison.  His story is amazing - as are the other stories which James has contributed to Storyvault.  Look him up and enjoy them.  I recommend it.
